The Donor Relations (DR) Manager in Minnesota is responsible for cultivating and maintaining a portfolio of corporate, foundation and individual donors and for providing community outreach, daily administration, and special event planning and support to Youth Frontiers’ Donor Relations department. This includes building relationships with and cultivating donors, donor database entry, planning and organizing events, information management and scheduling for DR in Minnesota. The Donor Relations Manager in Minnesota will be required to exercise discretion, self-motivation and independent judgment throughout all duties to ensure an effective and efficient development effort. This position must be focused on a team-oriented, mission-driven organization and will bring enthusiasm, a willingness to find solutions and a desire to generate and implement organization-improving ideas.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
  • You have a minimum of 3+ years work experience.
  • You have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge experience.
  • You have strong networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Mac experience helpful.
  • You have a strong work ethic, absolute attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and a high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • You have working knowledge of nonprofit development and prospect research.
  • You have the ability to accept responsibility for projects and assignments, progressing them on a timeline and reporting back with limited oversight and prompting.
  • You are self-motivated, results oriented and goal focused.
  • You are able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You have the ability to research inquisitively and report facts accurately.
  • You are flexible and willing to work occasional extra or off hours.


  • You will be responsible for meeting with prospective and existing donors to share the mission and vision of Youth Frontiers, making connections, inviting donors to observe our work and get involved with the YF mission - personally and financially.
  • You will plan strategies with department managers to develop territory including securing donor money, events, committees and any other territory-specific ideas. Implements according to plan.
  • You will be responsible for all foundation outreach, as well as managing grants through collaboration with YF’s grant writer.
  • You will be responsible for accurately maintaining our donor database (Raiser’s Edge), including entering data, gift entry, and donor activity for Minnesota.
  • You will be responsible for collecting donations, forwarding all checks and credit card data and promptly issuing tax receipts and thank-you notes.
  • You will be responsible for logistical aspects of regular event planning including donor mailings, reservations and day-of-event support. Requires attendance at some evening or weekend events.
  • You will act as a resource for the organization, donors and development office. You will field phone calls, answer inquiries. You will assist the Donor Relations team and our CEO with Minnesota grants, donor meetings and small and large events.
  • You will be required to attend community events to build relationship and brand awareness. The goal of event attendance is to both connect with community members and identify new YF prospects.
  • You will perform other duties as apparent or assigned by Supervisor.



Youth Frontiers has a $4.5M operating budget.

This position is classified as regular, full-time (30 hours per week), exempt.
