The Database Manager and Special Events Coordinator is responsible for providing database administration (Raisers’ Edge) and special event support to Youth Frontiers’ Development department. This includes data entry, planning and organizing, information management, report preparation, scheduling, data and event analysis, general and specialized clerical work. The Database Manager and Special Events Coordinator will be required to exercise discretion, self-motivation and independent judgment throughout all duties to ensure an effective and efficient development effort. This position must be focused on a team-oriented, mission driven organization and will bring enthusiasm, a willingness to find solutions and a desire to generate and implement organization-improving ideas.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent administrative experience, and a minimum of two to three years work experience.
  • You have excellent computer skills including Excel, Word and proficiency with Raisers’ Edge.
  • You have a strong work ethic, absolute attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, high level of oral and written communication skills and an ability to handle confidential information.
  • You have working knowledge of nonprofit development and prospect research.
  • You have the ability to accept responsibility for projects and assignments, progressing them on a timeline and reporting back with limited oversight and prompting.
  • You are self-motivated, energetic, results-oriented and goal-focused. You are able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You have the ability to research inquisitively and report facts accurately.
  • You are flexible and willing to work occasional extra or off hours.


  • You will accurately maintain the overall integrity of the donor database, including entering and exporting data including gift entry, donor activity, tracking and reporting.
  • You will provide training of database software staff as needed.
  • You will process donations, promptly issuing tax receipts and acknowledgement letters.
  • You are responsible for donor and prospect research management and creation of profiles for the Donor Relations department.
  • You will work with all departments to plan and support all regular and special fundraising events**, including donor mailings, reservations, day-of-event support**, gift tracking, etc.
  • You will act as a resource for the organization, serving as a liaison between staff, donors and the development department.
  • You will field phone calls, answer inquiries, provide administrative support as needed.
  • You are required to attend evening or weekend events**.
  • You will complete other duties as apparent or assigned by Supervisor.


** Youth Frontiers produced three large donor events last year—two in Minneapolis, Minn., and one in Milwaukee, Wis. Each is a catered meal at a hotel or other large venue. Any site visits for this position would be only in Minneapolis. (These are NOT retreats at schools.)

The Donor Relations department’s FY18 fundraising goal is $2M, and our operating budget is $4.5M. Our fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.

This position is classified as regular, full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt.
