ABOUT THE JOB:

The YCorps position is a youth worker apprenticeship position working with our Program Facilitators and Musicians, and runs from the beginning of August through February.

YCorps members will help facilitate Youth Frontiers programs for 100+ students, grades fourth-12th, throughout the seven-month position. They will work with the Programs team to deliver interactive programs by leading games and activities, and communicating life-changing content that will inspire students to lead lives of better character. YCorps members will attend regular staff meetings, intensive training, coaching sessions, and other special functions as scheduled.

STATUS:
This is a temporary position.  The apprenticeship runs from the beginning of August 2018 to February 2019.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You remember what it was like to be a kid. You can speak kid.
  • You have a passion for working with youth. You really feel you can make a difference in young peoples’ lives.
  • You bring excitement and energy in large-group settings. You don’t mind looking silly to help others relax.
  • You are caring on an individual level, you can present material to a large group, you can be deferential to educators – all in the same hour.
  • You are curious and fearless about growing the best possible you. You are committed and expend your best energy for the good of the organization where you work.
  • You have a valid driver’s license, you are able to drive frequently, fly occasionally, and have the flexibility to travel overnight for out-of-town retreat programs 20-30 days over the course of the apprenticeship.

ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Ideally, you have a college degree or are working toward one.
  • You have experience in youth work. We recommend two years or more.
  • You have experience giving public presentations; this will be beneficial.
  • Ideally, you have experience in musical performance (vocal, guitar and/or piano).

ABOUT THE JOB:

  • You will facilitate student programming as a team member on Youth Frontiers programs.
  • You will build relationships with student participants with an emphasis on school staff and small-group leaders.
  • You will attend regular staff meetings and other various work-related functions.
  • You will participate in special functions and other projects.
  • You will receive and provide feedback regarding performance and relationship-building to help you, co-workers and the organization grow and maintain high-quality programs.
  • You will be a willing part of the set-up and take-down of equipment and sound systems on retreat, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • You will be an active part of the team, handling other duties as apparent or assigned to support the retreat experience.
