PURPOSE:
YCorps is a five-month apprenticeship for young professionals who want to develop themselves professionally and personally while making a difference in the world.

Over the course of five months (July-Dec), YCorps members work directly with Youth Frontiers Program Facilitators and Musicians to facilitate daylong student programming (retreats) for students in grades 4-10. As part of these retreats, YCorps members lead games and activities while communicating compelling content that will inspire students to lead lives of character. 

Outside of retreats, YCorps members attend regular staff meetings, intensive training, coaching sessions, and work alongside other YCorps members in focused personal and professional development experiences. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. You have a desire to grow personally and professionally.
  2. You are grounded in strong character values.
  3. You are willing to take risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone. 
  4. You are comfortable giving public presentations. 
  5. You are fun, creative and hard-working.
  6. You are curious and fearless about becoming the best possible you. You are committed and expend your best energy for the good of the organization where you work. 
  7. Your peers and coworkers can always count on you to be reliable and on-time. 
  8. You will graduate from college with an undergraduate degree this spring.
  9. You have a valid driver’s license, you are able to drive frequently, fly occasionally, and have the flexibility to travel overnight for out-of-town retreat programs 15-20 days over the course of the apprenticeship. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. You have experience in youth work. 
  2. You have some up-front performing/facilitating experience. (speaking, acting, leading games, etc)
  3. You might be able to sing, play the guitar or the piano. 
 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. You will be a part of a YCorps specific cohort that will work together on your personal and professional development. Once a month you will go through our “Character Academy” series. In addition to one overnight retreat just for the YCorps members in early December. 
  2. You will be trained to facilitate several elements of our Kindness, Courage, and Respect retreats. 
  3. You will facilitate student programming with other Youth Frontiers team members. 
  4. You will build relationships with student programming participants including with school staff and small-group leaders. 
  5. You will attend regular staff meetings, trainings and other various work-related events. 
  6. You will participate in special functions and other projects that support the mission of Youth Frontiers. 
  7. You will receive and provide feedback regarding performance and relationship-building to help you, co-workers and the organization grow and maintain high-quality programs. 
  8. You will assist with the set-up and take-down of equipment and sound systems on retreat, lifting up to 50 lbs. 
  9. You will be an active part of the team, handling other duties as apparent or assigned to support the retreat experience.
